New Delhi. In the midst of the rising heat, the demand for cooling products, especially air conditioners, has also increased rapidly. In the first half of the year 2022, AC sales in the domestic market have reached a record of 60 lakh units.

AC prices increased 2-3 times in last 6 months
These sales figures are when AC prices have increased by 10 to 15 percent in two to three times in the last 6 months. In fact, due to the unprecedented pressure of inflation from metals to important components and increase in logistics charges, companies have to increase prices.

Voltas sold around 12 lakh residential ACs
Voltas sold around 1.2 million residential ACs, LG Electronic India sold over 1 million inverter ACs in the domestic market in the first half. Other AC manufacturers such as Hitachi, Daikin, Panasonic and Haier also posted growth in sales and expect good sales in the second half of the year as well.

The first half has been very good for the AC industry
Eric Breganza, President of the Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association (CEAMA), said that the first half of this year has been very good for the AC industry. He said, “Between January and June, the domestic AC market would have been around 60 lakh units. Never before have sales figures been so high. I estimate it to be 25 lakh units in the second half and around 85 lakh units by the end of the year.

Daikin India Chairman and MD KJ Jawa said the company sold around 4 lakh units in the April-June quarter and around 7 lakh units in the first half of 2022. “Around 30 percent growth has been achieved in comparison to 2019 and 175 percent growth compared to last year,” he said.

LG sold more than 1 million residential inverter ACs
Tata Group company Voltas sold around 1.2 million ACs in the first half of the year, which is the highest sales by any company in the industry. Similarly, LG Electronic India sold more than one million residential inverter ACs in the domestic market in the first half, which is 50 percent more than the previous year. Deepak Bansal, Vice President (Home Appliances and Air Conditioners) LG Electronic India said that during January to June, revenue of Rs 4,000 crore was received from the AC category.
