Delhi rain | Thunderstorm likely to occur in next 2 hours: IMD

With the onset of monsoon, the India Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate intensity thunderstorms with heavy rain at isolated places over the national capital during the next 2 hours on July 19.

The areas where heavy to very heavy rain with light to moderate intensity has been predicted in Delhi include Alipore, Mundka, Najafgarh, Dwarka, Delhi Cantt, Palam, Safdarjung and Lodi Road.

Apart from IGI Airport, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur at Vasant Vihar, RK Puram, Defense Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Vasant Kunj, Malviyanagar, Kalkaji, Gurugram, Nuh (Haryana) and Gangoh. Rain, IMD said.

According to the data shared by the IMD on July 18, the city recorded 79 per cent relative humidity at 8:30 am. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board data, Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) was recorded in the ‘moderate’ (106) category at around 9.30 am.

Earlier on July 16, Delhi and its adjoining areas received heavy rains, bringing respite from the oppressive humidity and heat. This also led to waterlogging and traffic jams at many places in the national capital.
