Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday said that the election of the President and Vice President is a battle of ideology and not of individual candidates.
after casting vote presidential election Gehlot said here that though it is natural that a candidate is welcomed in his home state and people may have sentiments towards him, voting will be based on ideology.
NDA’s Vice Presidential Candidate West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhari are from Rajasthan who are standing against joint opposition candidate Margaret Alva Who has been the former governor of the state.
“He (Dhankhar) has become a candidate from Rajasthan in the same way as Bhairon Singh Shekhawat once (VP candidate).
“If a candidate is from the state, then people here may have feelings (for him), but the voting pattern will be based on ideology,” he said.
Gehlot said that the Speaker of both the Houses of Parliament from Rajasthan is a happy coincidence.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is also from Rajasthan.
The CM said that both the President and the Vice President are not elected by the candidates but by ideology and it should be taken in that spirit.
“This fight is not about any candidate, it is about ideology,” he said.
