Jammu and Kashmir: Army captain, JCO killed in accidental blast in Poonchho

An Army captain and a junior commissioned officer were killed in an accidental grenade explosion along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. Officials gave this information on Monday.

“Last night, an accidental grenade exploded in Mendhar sector of Poonch district while soldiers were performing their duty along the Line of Control. Soldiers were injured as a result of the blast. During treatment, an officer and a JCO succumbed to their injuries.” PRO Defense Jammu said.

According to the Defense PRO, the blast took place near the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday night, when Army personnel were performing their duty, injuring them.

All the injured jawans were immediately airlifted to Udhampur.

An Army PRO said that the Army personnel were on duty when the incident took place in Mendhar sector of Poonch late on Sunday night. He said the army captain and the Naib-Subedar (JCO) were immediately airlifted to Udhampur for treatment. The injured died during treatment.
