Commonwealth Games 2022: The Commonwealth Games 2022 will be held from 28 July to 8 August 2002 in Birmingham, England. This will be the third instance when England will host the Commonwealth Games. However, due to conflicts with the UEFA Women’s European Championship and the closing days of the World Athletics Championships, the Games have been delayed by one day from their original scheduled dates.
Around 72 nations are expected to participate in the Commonwealth Games this year, with over 5000 athletes expected to take part in various competitions. There will also be 283 separate medal competitions for athletes.
The Commonwealth Games 2022 will be historic as it will be the first in a global, multi-sport event, with more events for women than for men. The Birmingham Commonwealth Games is estimated to be the largest event in history for women and athletes with disabilities. Also, 2022 will be the first CWG to include esports, albeit as a limited pilot with different branding and medals.
The opening ceremony of the Games will take place on Thursday, July 28, while the closing ceremony will take place on August 8.
In between, the men’s and women’s 100m finals, both taking place on Wednesday, 3 August, and Sunday, 7 August for both men and women in boxing are some important dates to watch for final bouts in all weight categories. . Same date for finals in 4 x 100m relay.

Venue for Commonwealth Games 2022:
- The massively updated Alexander Stadium will host track and field athletics events
- NEC will showcase Boxing, Judo, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Para-Powerlifting events
- Badminton will be fought at the NEC Arena
- Artistic and rhythmic gymnastics will take place at Arena Birmingham
- University of Birmingham to host squash and hockey on new courts and pitches
- Athletes will stay at the University of Birmingham, the University of Warwick and the NEC Hotel
- New cycling facilities have recently been opened at Cannock Chase One, which will be used for mountain bike competition at the Games.
