After the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the dry spell is back on Bollywood. On 15 July, two major films were released – Rajkummar Rao’s hit – The First Case and Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu. Despite a good starcast and engaging story, both the films failed to impress the audience. They are currently struggling to gain a foothold at the box office collections. In Shabaash Mithu, Taapsee Pannu plays the role of Mithali Raj, former captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. The biopic got good reviews. However, the reviews failed to draw more viewers to theatres. After the first day of the collection, the film’s silliness does not seem to end. Well done Mithu hardly put any number on the fourth day.

Well done Mithu box office collection

After a lower opening collection of around Rs 0.40 crore, Shabaash Mithu had a poor third day at the theatres. On the third day, the film picked up by a margin and collected around Rs 0.60 crore, taking the total collection to touch the Rs 1 crore mark. However, on the fourth day again it saw a sharp decline. The film barely made any money as its one-day box office collection stood at Rs 0.18 crore. So, as per initial estimates, the total collection will now be Rs 1.75 crore. Shabaash Mithu was released alongside Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra starrer Hit: The First Case. While Rajkummar Rao’s film showed a boom, Taapsee’s stellar performance failed to draw people to the theatres.

About Sweety Mithu

Taapsee Pannu had to undergo rigorous training to play the role for the film. She makes a remarkable performance as Mithali. Earlier in an interview, Taapsee mentioned that she took inspiration from Shah Rukh Khan in Chak De to motivate herself while shooting for Shabaash Mithu. Shabaash Mithu was directed by filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee and written by Priya Aven. The biopic is the coming-of-age story of women’s cricket in India through Mithali’s glasses.

On the work front, Taapsee also has Dunky opposite Shah Rukh Khan. This will be his first association with King Khan.
