UP’s sanitation worker put photo frames of PM Modi, CM Yogi in dustbin, lost job

A sanitation worker in Uttar Pradesh lost his job after carrying framed pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in his garbage cart. Officials said the services of Bobby, a sanitation worker posted in Mathura’s Generalganj area, were terminated after the incident came to light on Saturday. Videos posted on social media showed him carrying pictures of Modi and Adityanath in his wheelbarrow.

One video shows people asking Bobby about a photo of him with litter in his barrow. The sweeper replied that he found them lying on the road and was just doing his job.

Some people took out two frames from the car. There was also a third picture but it didn’t seem to be in good shape. All this was caught on mobile cameras and the footage finally surfaced on social media.

A video also shows a man cleaning photographs, which another man, identified as someone from Alwar, Rajasthan, kept in his car to take with him.

“The contractual sweeper Bobby was found negligent in his work and his services were terminated,” PTI quoted Satyendra Kumar Tiwari, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Mathura-Vrindavan Municipal Corporation as saying.

Meanwhile, Bobby said that he was only doing his job by collecting garbage from the streets. He said that it was not his fault that pictures of PM and UP CM were thrown on the road.

He was quoted as saying in the PTI report, “Before initiating action, what actually actually happened should have been considered and it should have been ascertained whether it was my fault or not.”
